Why do you read? ❤️

I think there’s such a stigma around literature in any form to be boring, or nerdy.
I also think there is an expectation to read lots, or read particular books, or read quickly.
I also think it should be less taboo to talk about our mental health. Check in with everyone, because you just have no idea how people are feeling on the inside and a simple “are you ok” might make their day, or break down a wall

Let’s strip this back.

Why do I read?

I read because it gives me an escape from my own mind
I read because I want to learn how other people feel and how they experience life
I read because it comforts me when I feel a resonation with the character’s emotion of experience
I read because it makes me feel connected to someone
I read because I enjoy the way I can get lost in the way the words are formed
I read because the story takes me somewhere else, and our physical world can be brutal and covid filled
I read to discover good, kind characters to remind myself that there are good people in this world.

Its important to check in with ourselves. LET YOURSELF CHECK IN TO YOU. LIFE is MESSY, unexpected, hard, emotional, fast. Give yourself a breathe to acknowledge how you’re doing. Read. Step back from the pressure, read the genre you want, whenever you want, however often you want. Do what feels good for you. Read 1 book a month, read 40, have a book free month.

DO YOU, and be kind to you. You’re you, forever.

Why do you read? I’ve tagged a few people because I’m interested to see what your reasons are, but no pressure ❤️

Ps my dms are always open.

🥰
