THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR ME! 💗 She’s only gone and bloody done it!!
I proved to myself (and some others) I could finish a book! (No, really, read on)🤔
After years of not reading or DNF a book because I hated it – and punishing myself for being a slow reader – because the books I tried to read in my teens where ALL soppy, crappy romances that ALL end in “happy ever after”, I had almost convinced myself I just would never be a reader and I wasn’t fast enough… Until I found Stephen King!👀
I’m writing a book (big dreams), I read his autobiography for advice, so this is the first book I’ve read that’s longer than 38 pages, this year (or for many!)
🥳 I FINISHED IT!! Its 698 pages and it took me roughly 2/3 months.
Now for the review part, I’m giving it.. ⭐⭐⭐/5
* this is 100% my opinion, I know that the author is very talented, this is just me!
🤔 King can develop characters and get them to engage incredibly well. I felt genuinely invested in two of the main characters, Polly and Alan. (As a wannabe writer, this was v valuable to me as I’m learning how not to write and how to do it well!!)
🤔 When the story sometimes “gets going”, King quickly builds the suspense well, and this part was a page turner.
🤔 But felt there were too many characters in to keep track and be able to be invested in, which is possibly why it was so long, and I sometimes got a little bored in those parts. I think he could even have cut out some of those characters completely and not lose the essence of the book.
So there you have it! 👏🏻 I’ve tagged a couple thriller lovers💞 and those who’ve been V supportive in my journey (thank you!)💗
I’m taking a King break – more because I know what I want in a book now, I want to read a book that feels finishable!
On to the next! I have a few lined up.. can you recommend me some? I’m looking for a non fiction that will educate me/make me think 👀💗
