THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR ME! πŸ’— She’s only gone and bloody done it!!

I proved to myself (and some others) I could finish a book! (No, really, read on)πŸ€”

After years of not reading or DNF a book because I hated it – and punishing myself for being a slow reader – because the books I tried to read in my teens where ALL soppy, crappy romances that ALL end in “happy ever after”, I had almost convinced myself I just would never be a reader and I wasn’t fast enough… Until I found Stephen King!πŸ‘€

I’m writing a book (big dreams), I read his autobiography for advice, so this is the first book I’ve read that’s longer than 38 pages, this year (or for many!)

πŸ₯³ I FINISHED IT!! Its 698 pages and it took me roughly 2/3 months.

Now for the review part, I’m giving it.. ⭐⭐⭐/5

* this is 100% my opinion, I know that the author is very talented, this is just me!

πŸ€” King can develop characters and get them to engage incredibly well. I felt genuinely invested in two of the main characters, Polly and Alan. (As a wannabe writer, this was v valuable to me as I’m learning how not to write and how to do it well!!)

πŸ€” When the story sometimes “gets going”, King quickly builds the suspense well, and this part was a page turner.

πŸ€” But felt there were too many characters in to keep track and be able to be invested in, which is possibly why it was so long, and I sometimes got a little bored in those parts. I think he could even have cut out some of those characters completely and not lose the essence of the book.

So there you have it! πŸ‘πŸ» I’ve tagged a couple thriller loversπŸ’ž and those who’ve been V supportive in my journey (thank you!)πŸ’—

I’m taking a King break – more because I know what I want in a book now, I want to read a book that feels finishable!

On to the next! I have a few lined up.. can you recommend me some? I’m looking for a non fiction that will educate me/make me think πŸ‘€πŸ’—

  1. Well done lovey! That is a bigggg bookπŸ˜‚πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ onto the next πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

  2. πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ congrats. King can be a bit meandering sometimes and takes a while to build up. Some of the side characters are main ones in other stories and he has a massive multiverse with lots of crossovers. Congrats for finishing this chunky boy! I havent read this one yet. Dont ever feel bad about how long it takes you to read a book or even dnf’ing a book. It’s ok ❀️

  3. Yay! Well done you for pushing yourself. Thanks for the review too, this is on my TBR 😁

  4. Yassss girl!! You did it!! πŸ’—πŸ’— Actually so proud of ya! I know what you mean about king, some of his work takes that little while to actually ‘kickstart’ πŸ€” amazing you persevered through such a hefty read πŸ˜„xx

  5. Well done! Non fictions like self help or something like someone autobiography/ life story x

  6. Oh looks a good book and I am also writing so I have his book on writing on my wishlist! X

  7. Oh god; I’m a slow reader who loves books so I totally feel you on this! But I can’t ever quit a book, it’s just totally against my nature πŸ™„ So I just spent 1.5/2 months reading a book I pretty much hated on many levels (the Essex Serpent)
