Review: Something to live for – Richard Roper @richardroper ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (no spoilers)
As part of with @bookswithchelsea and @chelldaniellebooks and all!
Where to start?!
Trigger warnings: death, grievance, suicide, heartache (I think that’s all, so please read other reviews too)
I would write the blurb of this book here but Roper’s story is SO much more than the blurb. It unfolds in a way you don’t quite expect it to.
Roper writes in a style that is easy to flow with, and at no point does anything get too slow or boring, which is a big enjoyment for me. It really was a page turner.
I laughed, I enjoyed the sarcasm, and I had my heart opened by a book for the first time, maybe ever. I felt emotion and was able to completely resonate with the character’s emotions in places and the descriptions were just spot on.
Roper’s ability to tug at heart strings is stunning, and make you laugh, or sympathise for the main character in the next sentence.
For me, this book was an eye opener on a personal level too. And I think that’s what I look for in the magic of words – if it easily transports you to another world, and then hits home for your own being and mind, *that* is something to live for, and why I’d give it 5/5 stars.
